HT-150 Heavy Hauler

Description

The Corellian HT-150 Heavy Hauler. 35 meters long, 8.5 meters tall, and capable of carrying hundreds of tons of heavy, dangerous cargo, the HT-150 uses an unusual "top loader" cargo platform, instead of the usual underbelly "grab and go" model favored by most shipwrights. The purpose of this configuration is to better enable the HT-150 to pick up cargo from the docking bays, landing collars, and gravity-feed elevators of larger ships. The design suits the HT-150's role as a hauler of heavy metals, unstable cargoes, and otherwise dangerous materials well, as the cargo containers (up to four, filling a total area of 25m x 14m x 3m) can simply be dropped onto the HT-150's loading platform, locked down, and flown away.

The HT-150 is designed to be a long-haul vessel. Although more sparsely equipped than most Corellian vessels, what the HT-150 lacks in space, it makes up for in supply accommodations and life-support. Its standard crew of 4 can be maintained for up to six months without any replenishment. Smaller crew numbers gain increasingly large life support time-frames.

The HT-150 comes equipped with an M4 model Astromech, as part of a purchasing/sales deal Corellian Engineering entered into with Industrial Automation. Although it was determined to be infeasible for future ship releases due to maintenance warranties and licensing difficulties, the M4 model has proven to be a durable, if frequently "unique," addition to the ship's complement.

The HT-150 has a slow, but reliable, Isu-Simm SSN-10 Hyperdrive motivator, allowing it Hyperdrive travel at a reasonable, if none-too-flashy, pace. Multiple repulsorlift arrays along the rear and underside of the HT-150 enable surprisingly deft low altitude flight. "She'll surprise you" is a commonly uttered phrase among HT-150 crews.

Designed as a "scenery ship" for my Star Wars Saga RPG, the HT-150 is a common sight in the Old Republic. It's a good, solid, ship, even if it lacks any sort of "style" and "flash."
